Hi, Laurel Paxton here! I am a community herbalist, holistic wellness coach, and founder of Bits N' Roots Healing Arts! I was born and raised in Santa Cruz, California, where I fell in love with nature and all she has to offer. I came to South Lake Tahoe, California, in 2009, when I was ridden with back and joint pain, and an autoimmune disease called mixed connective tissue disorder. I set out to not only heal myself but to do all I could to keep my children from living a life stricken with the diseases that had become much too common to our family!

My journey started by homeschooling my children, which eventually lead me back to school. I am now a graduate of East-West School of Planetary Herbology, with Michael and Lesley Tierra. I have completed the entire program at the School Evolutionary Herbalism with Sajah Popham. I received my education for Holistic Wellness Coaching and, currently finishing my Holistic Nutrition, at Hill College Tx. Holistic Wellness Pathway, by Dr. Lori Rose, Ph.D. I am working hard to receive national certification in holistic nutrition and wellness coaching and receive a registered herbalist status with the American Herbalist Guild!

My mentors include

Michael Tierra, LAc, AHG,

Margi Flint, Clinical Herbalist, AHG and

Dr. Lori Rose, Ph.D., CNP, AHG, NBC-HWC, FDN-P

I have studied everything from Traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, Western, Elemental, and Folk herbalism, Medical Astrology, reiki, alchemy, herbal spagyrics, crystal and chakra healing, all of which my intuitive gifts guide well. I specialize in Traditional Chinese pattern diagnosis, which is the foundation of my recommendations while blending all modalities I have studied to support the vital natural force within us all. Every client has their bio-individual, spiritual, and emotional needs. My goal is to assist each client with the healing modality or modalities suited for them.

I am very meticulous about the herbs I find locally and receive from all around the world. I only purchase herbs from highly respected suppliers known to harvest and grow ethically certified organic herbs.

I approach healing as finding balance. To do so, I strengthen spiritually through mediation, remember food is our medicine, and incorporate nourishing herbs every day.; I make sleep a priority and keep a schedule. I make sure to be as social as possible(Covid makes it challenging) and exercise by incorporating low impact movement and sunshine into my daily life. When needed, I turn to our beautiful herbs, Chinese and Ayurvedic formulas, herbal spagyrics, and vitamin supplementation if appropriate.

If you are looking to improve your health, strengthen your immune system, support a specific health aliment, or have goals you're struggling to meet, email me and we will work as a team to get the radiance back in your life! Plant the first step on your path to your health wellness today!
